Dr. Wright taught today about the Our Lady of Czestochowa and her role in Polish culture and politics in a classroom we rented from the hotel and then we had a delicious lunch at a creperie down the street (which was lucky as it is Corpus Christi Day here and almost everything is closed). Professor Stan Obirek shared his insights into founding events in the Polish identity narrative and the current state of church and state relations. Dr. Obirek is Dr. Wright’s former colleague at the Unviersity of Lodz (now at the University of Warsaw) and a former guest lecturer for our 2013 trip. He is a wonderfully warm person and we are glad to have him speak to our students.
